Surprise!!!

So I was kind of in a funky mood this afternoon. No reason, just it was rainy and I have been tired. So I was trying to think of something to cheer me up...and I remembered that I never wrote in the blog about the AMAZING surprise I got for my birthday this year! I put it on instagram...but I want to remember every detail. Prepare for lots of pics!

First off. I was totally surprised by this. Jake really had me fooled. He kept asking where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do for my birthday and I just said I wanted it to be a surprise. We decided it would be fun to go out with Jeanne and Josh and all I was expecting was to be surprised by where we ate. Jake kept saying..."I just want to tell you what we are doing...I hate surprises." He totally had me thinking he was crazy and couldn't even plan a dinner date without first making sure I loved it. Little did I know that he had planned dinner, entertainment, dessert and so much more. I love Jake. I know that every day isn't a birthday and life can't be this FUN all the time...but when it is...I LOVE IT!!!!!

Okay, so the night of my birthday we first had to go to the Cooper Ward birthday party. Jake and I are in a new ward by the way...that is a another blog post in itself. So, because we were in this new ward and Jake is the new 2nd counselor in the bishoprich...we felt like we had to make an appearance. We were there about an hour and then on our way to our date. I felt a little rushed to get ready but we were off. We pulled up to Jeanne and Josh's house and Jake told me to run in and get them. I was annoyed cause I wanted to move the carseat and clear out our back seat for them. I ran in though and Jeanne kind of drug me to the kitchen where SO MANY of my good friends were there from our old ward! I don't even know if they said surprise or anything. I just remember being kind of in shock...like..."what's going on?"
Anyway, Jake wasn't there either...so I felt weird. I hugged everybody and it was finally sinking in that this was a surprise party for ME!! Jake had ordered food from my favorite restaurant  Pita Jungle. Jeanne and Josh had their home looking so cute. There were decorations, and cute desserts and snacks and everything was set up for karaoke. Before I knew it Jake had set up "Endless Love" for us to sing together. I felt a little embarrassed...but I just love Jake and love that memory  of us singing together. Thankfully Shelly even recorded it. I couldn't even eat because I had gorged myself all day on free birthday food from Joe's BBQ and from Liberty Market. Oh well...It was an awesome night. It was even more sweet because I was feeling so lonely after the ward boundary changes. I love my friends and neighbors from the Kingsborough park ward.
This picture was taken after some of the girls had left. What a great group of ladies I have to call friends. Love every last one of you!
Seriously the best part of the night was seeing everyone singing. I loved it!!!
The professionals
James Redd shocked us all by being an awesome ROCK ARTIST!!
This guy seriously sang the funniest song I have ever heard to Nana. It was about how she was pretty "enough." hahaha
Which of course...she is. :)

A few group numbers.
Jake belted out a few country songs. He is my MAN!
Everyone had a turn.

We even danced one cheesy number from the nineties!
Which these two performed. Love you guys!
This picture is my present from Jake. I got a kick out of the wrapping. He got me the 21 day fix. It is a diet and exercise bundle. I was laughing that this is what he got me. I love it...but I knew that when I told people...it sounded bad. Now I just mention the birthday party!!!

Here are a few pictures of the decorations. I loved how cute it was! Thank you Jeanne for making it so fun to be at. I wish I had taken a picture of the food too. It really was amazing! Jake and Jeanne both put a lot of love and thought into the party.
I think my favorite part of the night was when the men got brave and sang a song. I loved it!!! Thanks to Craig, Darren, Keith, Tyler, James, Josh, Bryan, Derrick, and of course Jake, I won't ever forget it.  (And I forgive Ron and James...because I love you two anyway.)

So there you have it. I was bummed about turning 36. I was feeling frumpy and lonely.  I was trying to just enjoy a simple birthday dinner with friends.  In the end, I got a diet (that I am doing btw and loving), a HUGE surprise and a big aha moment....I am LOVED and blessed beyond measure!  Thanks to my honey who always treats me good and sometimes even treats me GREAT. Thanks to good friends and a night I won't soon forget. Maybe being 36 is a good thing afterall!!!
