Christmas Pictures and More

This is Weston at around a month old. I think he looks so much like Spencer does now.

Spencer Jacob 6 weeks old.

Weston David 6weeks old. He is chubbier. Life has really been a lot better these last few days. We took Spencer to a Chiropractor/Alternative Medicine doctor on Wednesday. He worked on his energies and said that his large intestine wasn't getting the electrical impulses to do it's job. He had gotten to where he wasn't eating well and sleeping really long stretches. Anyway, since we've seen the doctor we have seen a lot of improvement. He is no longer spitting up and refusing the bottle. In fact, he is eating every 2 1/2 to 3 hours (over the 4 to even 8 in the night.) He is wanting to be held a lot more and just chilling....something we have never seen him do. He isn't sleeping as well, but in some ways that is a good thing, because he used to just be so exhausted from crying...it was so sad. We hope to see more improvement, but we are grateful to be counting his cries in minutes rather than in hours. I feel it is too soon to tell how well he is really doing, but we are grateful for the improvement. Anyway, here are some pictures of him as well as a whole bunch of Christmas pictures.

We stayed home this Christmas and it was just us and the kids. I loved it so much more than I expected too. Weston was full of life and Aubrey was so serious. It was too cute to see their little personalities shine through. Aubrey said her favorite gift was the "marker board" easel. And Weston loved his "Razor" scooter. We are very blessed and glad Santa did such a good job this year.

First presents...

Christmas eve...

Spencer pics...

At our Watkins Christmas party we had visit from "Santa's Biggest Elf" who brought gifts for everyone. Spencer received a pacifier that was carved out of a potato. (This was to remind him of Idaho) It was very funny, but did not last long.

Too Sad...

So those of you who are living here in Maricopa and those who are close to me...I guess you know that I am having a hard time with our new baby. However, many may not know, so here is my vent. It is 11:27 pm and I am letting a sweet little 5 week old boy "cry it out" in his crib. I really don't know what else to do. He has been awake since 5:15pm and only slept on and off in my arms for a few minutes at a time. He has cried lots and it just breaks my heart. Spencer is just so colicky. He burbs like 20 times, instead of once or twice. He wakes up screaming with gas. We have really tried everything...and I just don't know what more to do. Please don't post with advice. Not that I don't need it, but being told to take him in the car or playing white noise just comes across condesending after we have already had 2 colicky babies before. We swaddle, give gas drops, I watched what I ate, then switched him to a special formula. We have tried medication for reflux and the list goes on. I guess I am just writing this, so if you see me you can know what our whole family is going through. Have a prayer in your heart for our family, but mostly for Spencer. I believe he is the sweetest little boy and it breaks my heart to see him suffer. This too shall pass, but I am sad that we are all wishing away this time. I am sad that I can't let my kids hold him, unless it is minutes after a bottle. I am sad that he only seems happy about 3 to 4 hours after he eats, then I have to feed him and start the cycle over again. I am so grateful for my mother who gives me great perspective and a husband who is doing his best to help with our other 2 kids. I am grateful for good friends who let me cry and complaing and well, I can't stand to hear him cry anymore, so I will be off. Wish me luck.

3 weeks old.

So here we are on our first day of church. Spencer has been quite a handful, but doing better these last few days. We are praying that he mellows out. We need our sleep. He was great at church today and we sure love him.
Weston didn't go, but had to be in the pic.
