So my good friend Shelly talked me into doing this mud run a while ago... I can't even remember if I had Lucy yet. If I did, it was soon after her birth. I thought it would be good motivation for me to workout and get back in shape after the baby. It did motivate me...it did, but not quite as much as I really needed. I started working out about 6 weeks postpartum (like you should) but I definitely had some setbacks. The flu, colicky baby, no sleep...stuff like that. Haha. Anyway, I finally got serious about working out about a month before the race and usually did about 5 days a week. I would do DVD's or go walking. However....I couldn't make myself go running more than a few times. In fact, I hadn't ran more than a mile or so up until Monday of this week. I was feeling pretty lousy about it, because I really wanted to do well on the run and actually run the whole thing. So Monday, my other friend Jeanne and I started our "Training." We ran up to 3 miles and figured that was the best we could do. It was a fun week and honestly I was proud of all of us girls. It was a cold day. I hadn't slept well (too nervous) and I ran the Survivor Mud Run. We all did!! I had a great time. I am a little sore this evening and definitely bruised up a bit. But I am so glad I had this experience and I can see how people get the "bug". I loved the obstacles more than the running though!

| We duct taped our shoes on. Very good idea. Lots of people lost their shoes in the mud. |
